First, make sure you’ve added your child to your TotSpot account. We have two different types of accounts on TotSpot. ‘Child Accounts’ give you the full power of TotSpot, including the ability to add different types of content about your child.
‘Grownup Accounts’ are designed friends and family who don’t have kids of their own or don’t want to set-up their own child profiles, but who still want to be able to follow and contribute to the story of the children they love.
Second, check to make sure that you are logged in as your child. At the top right of every TotSpot page, you can see which user you are logged in as.
No. You are totally in control of the privacy of your TotSpot account. By default, only you and the people you explicitly invite can see any of your child’s content.
You can change your privacy settings to ‘closed,’ which removes access from even those who you’ve invited already, or ‘public,’ to allow open access to your TotSpot page.
None of these options will make your child’s TotSpot page show up in any search engine results – not Google, Yahoo, or anyone else.
You can add another child to your account by going to your preferences page and clicking on the ‘add a sibling’ link in the sidebar. If you have no children associated with the account, the option to add your first child will appear in the same place.
All details that you registered with can be edited under the ‘Edit my profile’ page, which can be found under the ‘My Profile’ tab in the navigation bar.
To change your account password, visit your 'preferences' page, which is linked to at the top right corner of your screen.
First of all, congratulations!
Second, the answer is yes. When adding your soon-to-be child, leave the ‘Name’ fields blank and just enter your expected due date instead of a birthday. If you don’t know the gender yet, just select ‘unknown’ from the dropdown menu.
No, of course not! TotSpot is open for all.
We initially designed the product with for parents of 0-5 year olds, but throughout our private beta and in our conversations with parents we’ve found a consistent desire for TotSpot pages amongst parents of older kids – and the kid’s themselves sometimes!
It’s also never too late to go back and chronicle your own childhood or that of a spouse. Feel free to use TotSpot however you like.
Both. We see creating TotSpot pages as something that parents do for their kids (or, soon-to-be kids), and eventually, something parents do with their kids. We love hearing stories from parents of their older tots sitting by their side to create their TotSpot pages.
Yes. Usernames can be changed once per 24 hours from the ‘edit my profile’ page under the ‘My Profile’ tab.
TotSpot allows you to import content and contacts from a number of existing web services. We do our best to ensure that these services are always functioning properly, but every once in a while a change by one of these third-parties puts our importing out of sorts. If you’re having problems, drop us a line, and we’ll look into it as soon as possible.
We know that you’re not always the only one capturing memories of your child. Contributor accounts are designed for those family and friends that you want to be able to add photos and videos to your child’s TotSpot page.
To designate someone as a contributor, first, invite them as a friend. Once, they’ve accepted your invitation, go to your main Friends page, and select ‘contributor’ under the dropdown for the appropriate person.
Note: only ‘Big People Accounts’ can be designated as contributors. Others with kids can contribute photos simply by ‘tagging’ your child when they upload photos to their own child’s pages.
Not yet. For now, we only allow importing videos from YouTube or Vimeo. Stay tuned for developments on this front.
You can upload up to 500MB of photos per month (enough for several hundred high resolution images) to each of TotSpot child profile. Look for expanded storage options on the horizon.
Why, thank you :). We want to keep TotSpot fun, free, and fulfilling. The most important thing you can do to help us out is tell others about us. Here are some ways to do that:
As always, we love hearing from you. Contact us at hello@totspot.com.
