Just started back to work this month after maternity leave. I hate it! I want to stay home with my baby. I hate hearing about all the things he did at the sitters that I missed! I wish we had a better system for moms taking leave. In other countries, they get 6 months paid!
Here's an interesting perspective that won't make you feel better in the short-term, but that I've found interesting. I know how you feel - I feel the same way and have since I dropped by now 18-month-old off at daycare when she was 3 months. But recently, I've been interviewing candidates for a part-time position at my company and was really interested to hear from mothers of middle-school and teenagers and they all said it's way more critical to be home at that point in their lives...for a million reasons. This has given me the insight to plan for part-time work at that point in my child's life. But at the same time, I've realized that my child loves me and my husband the best - no matter who takes care of them all day long. Be comforted to know that they love you best and KNOW you best.
