they say an early baby can lead to a slow development that most are behind other kids their age however I was just sitting with my son and he just started kindegarten and is starting to read and today he was playing a computer game and doing easy division!!! I was amazed!!!!
Thats great dannielle I am glad to hear that and I think hearing that helps other moms how are new to the preemie world. It gives them encouragement and motivation and especially Hope. LOL thanks for sharing

Our little fighter came in this world at 34 weeks and has been progressing leaps and bounds.
She is now one and half weeks out of the hospital. Now she 17days old and gained 6oz and is taking at least 60cc per feeding.
Now she is allowed to go out in public in the stroller everyone is surprised how well she is doing.
I welcome you to the group too!!

My little guy tried to come eight weeks early but was persuaded by magensium drip in hospital stay #1, terbutaline hospital #2, to wait another 16 days. The love of my life was born on March 24 and my husband and I couldn't believe it when we were finally able to bring him home on April Fool's Day! I'd had the steroid shots during the first hospital stay to stimulate his lungs but he needed eight days in the NICU to learn to regulate his body temp. Being 2, Baden is very into cars and trucks right now and loves hearing how we rode in an ambulance from one hospital to another the day before he was born.

why did you have to go to a different hospital
If Baden had waited until 35 weeks, I could've delivered at St. Mary's, but as they don't have a NICU, they transferred us over to the other hospital before he was born. If not, he would've been taken there in an ambulance once he was born. Having him in the NICU was tough enough; I'm so thankful he and I didn't end up at separate hospitals!

My son was born on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 12:21PM. I was 31w&6d pregnant with him. I was a single mommy at the time & Elijah's sister was almost 2. Elijah came into my life so fast & in such a hurry.
I went in the day after Thanksgiving KNOWING I was in labor but, was sent home with a UTI. The contractions were not being picked up by the monitors. I went back the next morning knowing the OB was wrong. I was at 5cm. By now the contractions were so bad, I couldn't even lay down. I remembering sitting on the bed Indian style, clicking the fetal movement button everytime I felt a contraction. At noon I was checked again...7cm! This is when I began to spaze a bit. I called my mom crying & she barely got to the hospital on time. 20 minutes later, my son, the child I had prayed for & about for years, was finally in my arms. Elijah was 4lbs 7oz at birth. He spent 24 hours under an oxy hood & 3 weeks in the NICU. Elijah came home with me & his big sister on December 18, 2003 at 1 day shy of 3 weeks weighing 4lbs 15oz. He is now 5 years old & almost 80lbs. He is the sweetest little boy you will ever meet & loves hearing the story about the day he was born. <3
oh my...My son was born early too and he was born nov 26 2003 which was the day after thanksgiving I went into labor the day before he was only 4 weeks and 4 days early but he had a bacterial inf. hes 40 lbs now. He is sweet too!!! Im glad to hear Elijah is doing good now too
My son was born 10 yrs ago this November, he was 4 wks premature. He weighed in at 5 lbs 6 oz and was 18 inches! Now he weighs almost 80 lbs. and is almost 5 ft tall and wears a size seven shoe in a men's shoe!! So all you premmie Mom's out there, have faith and remember to savor every moment with your little one's. Tonight is his first official sleepover with a non-family member(so far it's been either Granny,his Aunt or his Mawmaw!! So, as I sit here typing this, I'm thinking about pulling out his baby book!!lol

WELL I WAS 2MONTH AND ONE WEEK EARLY MY DAUGHTER WAS ONLY 2 WEEKS EARLY BUT SITIATION MUCH MORE HIGH RISK SEE I WAS AN OPIOD ADDICT I FOUND OUT I WAS PREGNAT GOING TO REHAB . TO HAVE MY CHILD THEY HAD TOLD ME I NEEDED TO BE ON METHADONE BECAUSE OPIOD WITHDRARALS ARE FATAL TO FETUSS . BELIEVE ME I KNOW HOW IT SOUNDS. METHADONE HAS BEEN TESTED WITH PREGNANCIES FOR YEARS AND YEARS NO LONG TERM EFFECTS I BELIEVED THEM. NOW I HAD STOPED EVERYTHING BUT LATER BECAME ADDICTED TO ZANEX WICH IS A BENZO AND EFFECTS THE FETUS THE SAME AS ALCHOL . ON JUNE 20 2007 I STARTED GETTING PAIN AND HEMMORAGED I BLED SOO MUCH I THOUGHT MY BABY HAD DIED!! I WANTED GOD TO TAKE ME FOR THE TRAUMA I CAUSED HER. THE DECIDED TO PERFERM A CSECTION...BUT BEFORE THE DR, MADE THAT CHOICE THE DR BEFORE WAS GOING TO MAKE ME PUSH AFTER THEY DELIVERED HER THE DR. TOLD ME MY PLECENTA TORN AND IF I HAD PUSHED SHE WOULD HAVE DIED ALSO HER AND MY HUSBAND HAD SAID THE MINUTE SHE WAS TAKEN FROM MY BODY MY HEART STOPPED AND FLAT LINED!! GOD SAVED US AND I REVIVED AS A NEW PERSON ...FROM THAT MOMENT I HAD NEVER TOUCHED A DRUG AND HAVE BEEN CLEAN FOR 2YAER AND 3DAYS. DSS HAD CLOSED THE CASE AFTER 9MONTHS SEEING HOW WELL I WAS DOING I LOVE MY DAUGHTER AND PROMISE MY LIFE IS HERS SHE SAVED ME AND SUFFERED FOR IT!! I SEE ALL U PARENTS CLEAN TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF HAVING PREMETURE BABIES WHILE I DID SOO MUCH DECONSTRUCTION AND DELIVERED ON TIME.. IM SORRY AND PRAY FOR ALL OF U! BUT PLEASE DONT IGNORE ME BECAUSE I WAS AN ADDICT IM VERY HONEST . AND PROMISE IM A GOOD MOM NOW AND GO TO SCHOOL TO BE A PERSONAL FITNESS TRAINER ALSO DRUG CONCILING

My name is Kelly and I have three kids. My firsr was late but came quick, my second was born a moth early and was born with a bacterial infection and had to spend 9 days in nicu and my daughter was induced 3 weeks early because she stopped growing. Its a scary thing to see your child in the nicu fight for there life and I am so glad technology now is so good it improves their lives. God bless all you parents who experience this Im glad to hear everything is well. To let you guys also now that having a preemie Ive learned that he has asthma and Im sure you all know that preemies are at higher risk for infection and I just wanted to tell you all that I work from home for an all natural company that can help. My son was behind when he was a baby/toddler. He didn't crawl until he was 10 months old, didn't walk til he was 15 months but, after that it was on!!! lol. He's never had a problem & for that, I am very thankful!
I'm amazed at how tiny and fragile he was when I brought him home. Then I see him rough housing with his daddy & think "This can't be the same child"! <3
