My little guy really likes books, so The. Potty Train was helpful for us. It includes the message that accidents can happen along the way and that's okay.

Hang in there! It will happen!

My name is Mike Potegal. I am a pediatric neuropsychologist at
the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis (this is a fancy
way of saying that I evaluate kids of all ages with all sorts of behavior
and school problems.) My particular interest is in tantrums-I and my
research team are trying to learn about how kid's tantrum behaviors relate to their feelings. In our current study, we are collecting home videos or DVDs that show an entire tantrum of a 2 or 3 year old, from beginning to end. We will pay $75 for videos that are submitted along with a tantrum calendar and a standard questionnaire about the child's personality. All material will remain confidential and used for research purposes only. Please contact me at poteg001@umn.edu before submitting anything.

I understand that Totspot is a safe site for parents to discuss their
interests and concerns and that my message is a bit unusual. Thanks for
allowing me to post it. To show my appreciation, and as a regular part of the study, I will be glad to discuss questions or concerns that people have
    about their children's emotional development.

I am assuming you have "tried everything" you can think of? There are TONS of things you could try - what can we do to help??

    So, what's your best tip:)

Don't fore them - they will do it when they are ready! When they are successful make it a BIG deal - jump up and down, sing a song, clap your hands!!! Try reading them a story while they are on the potty, or giving them a drink of water.

Hi--I'm not sure what I should be doing rightn now, my baby is 3 years old and he knows all about the toilet and likes to sit on it for fun but is this a sign I should be doing something more?

Any suggestions for how to get a 3 1/2 year old to make it through the night? She is still diapered at night and has never woken up dry. She doesn't seem to wake up when she has to go...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I just saw an interesting post in the Unschooling forum related to potty training:
    http://totspot.com/groups/unschooling/posts/282
I have no experience to draw from as my oldest is only 18 months and we haven't started the potty training journey yet, but this story is encouraging and sounds like a rewarding, painless way for our Tots to use the potty!

My 3 y.o. daughter has no problem with going #1 in the potty, but when it comes to #2, forget about it! We have offered to get her a toy she really wants and she really would like the toy, but her fear/reluctance outweighs the desire for the reward. Anyone experience this? Have suggestions for overcoming this stumbling block?
